Jimmy Charles Single “Superman” Promotes Prostate Cancer

(Nashville)–Jimmy Charles began Prostate Cancer Awareness Month with the debut of his music video for his single “Superman” on CMT.com. The “Superman” video was featured on the home page of CMT.com and is now on regular rotation on GAC and Zuus.

Charles’ extensive work with cancer charities has resulted in his position as spokesperson for Zero Cancer. Through this partnership came the inspiration to write “Superman” which is now the ZeroCancer.org anthem for prostate cancer awareness. Charles wrote the anthem based around his experiences with prostate cancer survivors. “We flew in a cancer survivor who was given a 5% chance of living to write the song with me. He describes it as an amazing opportunity and experience,” said Charles. As an advocate, Charles also performs at Zero Cancer Races across the country to promote prostate cancer awareness through his music. “I want men to realize that even if they feel strong and healthy like “Superman” this can still happen to them. If they are diagnosed they do not have to suffer in silence, ‘you are not alone’ we are here to fight with you!” said Charles.

The video, directed by Steve Condon (Old Dominion, Phil Vassar), portrays the story of a man going through the process of finding out he has cancer. The main actor, Thom Booten, has appeared in “Country Strong”, “Nashville”, and various Gary Allan music videos. Viewers can see the agony on the man’s face as he is in the best shape of his life yet still finding out he has cancer. It doesn’t only show the troubles of those going through diagnosis but also how the family is affected throughout the diagnosis and treatments. Charles said, “It is a moving video that relates to anyone who has been touched by cancer with a goal to save lives through the importance of early detection.” Prostate Cancer often doesn’t show any symptoms so the key factor in survival is early detection. Don’t wait till it’s too late, check your prostate.

  1. The Midtown MARTA station is closest to Music Midtown, and it is about
a 20 minute walk from the station down tenth Road.
You may also exit on the Arts Middle Station and stroll 25 minutes
    – much less crowds and easier access to the doorway with shorter
lines close to the bridge on Park Drive.
